A Home for Our Finished Oddball Shawls

It's been over a year, and all our completed shawls have been waiting for the perfect recipients.  I have kept them carefully stored, so they would be in good condition when the time came.

And now, I have found the perfect place for them! :)
I recently learned that the Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte needs 15-20 shawls a WEEK!

REknitting, a member of the Ravelry Charlotte Knitters Group shared the following about the shawl ministry:  "At Levine & Dickson Hospice House (LDHH) a cozy prayer shawl is provided for each new patient admitted. These heartfelt gifts provide great comfort during their stay at the hospice house. The shawls also play an important role in the ceremony at LDHH, held by staff and family members, to honor the patient’s life after they have died. Each shawl that provides warmth in life is lovingly placed over the patient in death. Rosemary, symbolizing remembrance, is cut fresh from the grounds of LDHH, tied with ribbon and hung on the door of the patient’s room. When it is time, with the lights dimmed, a candle lit, and soft music playing, the staff joins the caregivers in escorting the patient from the building. Both the rosemary bouquet and the shawl are presented to the family, in a tangible symbol of remembrance."

Sounds like our shawls will be greatly appreciated there!  I am so pleased to share our beautiful shawls with such a wonderful, caring group.

Still Finishing Up Shawls

Our project is no longer active, but I'm still finishing up shawls as I have time at home.

The Rainy Day Shawl was finished this morning. I just love it!

And our Cotton Fields shawl is looking beautiful as well. The cotton yarns are so soft and wonderful.

Our "Sunbeams" shawl has a new name now, because it looks more like a "Sunset" to me! Beautiful.....

"Red" Shawl by Shandeh

Recently, I contacted one of our forum members to get her mailing address. I wanted to send her one of our shawls, because she was going through a difficult time. Unfortunately, she told me she was allergic to wool. I didn't have a single shawl to give her. :(

SO.....I made one by myself, using different acrylic yarns in my stash. I knew that her favorite color was red, so that's the color I went with.

"Flower Garden" and "Magic" Shawls are Complete!

Woo Hoo! I actually completed a couple of our Oddball Shawls this week. :D

Here's our gorgeous "Flower Garden" shawl. It didn't need a border or fringe, because it's perfect all by itself.

Our "Magic" shawl looks nice also, even though the color combination is a bit wonky. I'm sure the recipient will still enjoy wrapping up in its warmth.
